‘It’s amazing how generous our customers are with their money” jokes JJ’s proprietor Justin Hersch as he shows off a 50 year old British ‘fiver’.

“A few years ago people started giving us bank notes to pin on our restaurant walls as mementoes of their visit. Our collection grew so rapidly that we decided to formalise it into a permanent exhibition. We now have hundreds of colourful and exotic notes and coins from every corner of the world.”

One of Justin’s favourites is a one hundred trillion dollar note from Zimbabwe, issued at the height of the country’s rampant inflation. “The sad thing is that this note wouldn’t have bought a loaf of bread, let alone a meal at JJ’s”!
